2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week China

2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week China, taking place from Nov.17 to Nov.23, 2008, will be both a global stage to display China’s entrepreneurial practices and entrepreneurial culture, and a fresh start to integrate those practices with the global trend.

2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week is a combination and expansion of two successful initiatives- Entrepreneurship Week USA, initiated by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in 2007, and the UK Enterprise Week which started in 2004 with full support of the now-Prime Minister Mr. Gordon Brown.

Shanghai Technology Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates (hereinafter referred to as EFG) initiated “2007 Shanghai Entrepreneurship Week—Innovative Shanghai, Entrepreneurial Campus” in November, 2007. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by EFG and the planning team of Global Entrepreneurship Week, thus officially declaring that EFG will host 2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week China. So far, over 60 countries worldwide have become host nations of 2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week.

With the theme of Unleashing Ideas, Enlightening China, 2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week China was formally launched on July 12, with guiding organizations of China Association for Promoting Democracy, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League, and Shanghai Municipal Government, among others.

The key activities will be highlighted from Nov.17 to Nov.23, 2008. Previously, a wide range of warm-up activities will be centered in Beijing and Shanghai, meanwhile covering China’s metropolises such as Wuhan, Xi’an, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing etc. This open, interactive and global initiative aims at encouraging youngster’s innovation, imagination and creativity, and helping improve local and global entrepreneurship to accelerate entrepreneurship worldwide.

2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week China hopes to integrate global innovative with entrepreneurial resources, explore the new mode of entrepreneurial investment and build up a resource platform for the establishment of an innovation-oriented nation. It inspires innovative potential and imagination of youngsters to the utmost, and advocates the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of Chinese nation.

The youngsters’ pursuit for entrepreneurship knows no bounds. Carrying the banner of Global Entrepreneurship Week, let us join together to build up the strongest entrepreneurship culture for a more splendid future.
